I want to book air ticket from Chicago/Newyork/NewJersey to Delhi for month of january. Tickets available on internet seem to be high because of high commision. Also they do not offer 3/6 months open return ticket. where I can get seasonal deals from agents/airlines? Non-stop flights are preferred.

Name of a travel agent who give great deal to India from USA?
Hi, I live in the USA and want to fly back to India in the winter break from say 20/21 st of December 2010 to 16/17th of January 2011. I looked at different websites , all of which is giving sort of expensive rates for flying before the Christmas. So, I was wondering if there is a good ( may or may not be Indian ) travel agent who can give me cheaper deal. I live in Highland Park, New Jersey area. Could you please mention some names of some good travel agents ?

They are not exactly that cheap but you can try on travelocity or kayak
Direct flight from ny to delhi on continental $767 and on air india $888
from chicago to delhi on american airlines around $1000
Via flights are also available like qatar via doha for $789 and virgin via london $955 and emirates via dubai $968
Many other are available but a direct flight would atleast cost you $767
So see what you can get.Fares are now cheaper because of the fuel cost has reduced.

traveling to india from usa, any suggestions?
ok. i first went online and saw some deals. as christmas is approaching the fares are going up. in spite of that i found an indian travel agent in the usa who got me a decent fare of about $1400 round trip detroit to calcutta with about 3 stops. this beat the online fares. however i don’t want to leave until after the new year. how is it that travel agents can get such better fares? i was thinking about doing priceline at the last minute for a cheap flight but i’m told there are many restrictions. also my agent told me that when u see a cheap flight online u cannot always get it that they just suck u in and charge you more. i’m thinking about just going with the travel agent. any thoughts on this?
